Red Cross Youth
Serangoon Garden Secondary School's Red Cross Youth equips cadets with first aid knowledge, leadership skills, and a heart for community service, nurturing compassionate, resilient young leaders guided by the spirit of humanity.

HUMANITY IN OUR HANDS— Our guiding motto
Red Cross Youth (RCY) is one of the six Uniformed Groups at Serangoon Garden Secondary School. As part of the world's largest humanitarian network, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, we are committed to nurturing students who embody the values of humanity, compassion, service, and leadership.
Our CCA provides cadets with opportunities to develop practical life skills while making meaningful contributions to the community. Through a comprehensive training programme, cadets gain knowledge and experience in first aid, disaster preparedness, blood donation advocacy, youth leadership, and service learning.
All cadets undergo the Standard First Aid Course, where they acquire essential life-saving skills, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). They apply these skills by providing first aid coverage during school events such as the Sports Fiesta and Cross Country Run. Cadets also participate in the annual First Aid Championships, where they work as teams to respond to realistic emergency scenarios alongside participants from other schools.
Beyond first aid, our cadets actively serve the community through a variety of service learning initiatives. These include organising activities for seniors at care centres, supporting the Singapore Red Cross' annual Grateful Hearts Day fundraising campaign, participating in environmental projects such as beach clean-ups, and conducting first aid outreach for fellow Uniformed Group cadets. These experiences cultivate empathy, teamwork, and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
Through the Red Cross Youth curriculum and diverse learning experiences, we equip our cadets with the knowledge, values, and confidence to become compassionate humanitarian leaders who are adaptable, resilient, and ready to serve others.
