Explore how SGS connects with schools and communities around the world while warmly welcoming visitors from overseas to foster collaboration, cultural exchange, and global citizenship.
Overseas Immersion Programme
Annually, SGS students embark on Overseas Learning Journeys to develop global awareness and cross-cultural skills and sensitivities. These experiences enable them to gain a deeper understanding of the place of Singapore in the world. Over the years, students have visited our partner schools in various countries and cities including:

Internationalisation Programme 2025
Suzhou and Shanghai Trip 2025
From 26 to 29 May 2025, 30 Secondary 3 students embarked on a cultural immersion trip to Suzhou and Shanghai. In Suzhou, students experienced a typical school day at Pingjiang Middle School, visited the Suzhou Industrial Park and historic sites like Master of the Nets Garden and Shantang Street, enjoyed Suzhou’s Pingtan performance, and explored the silk industry. In Shanghai, they learnt about urban development concepts at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Centre, explored Xintiandi, Tianzifang, and the Oriental Pearl Tower, wrapping up their last evening with the ERA ‘Intersection of Time Acrobatics Show’. The trip developed students’ global awareness and cross-cultural skills and they returned, brimming with memories of their exciting experiences.

Ho Chi Minh City Trip 2025
In 2025, 30 Secondary 3 students embarked on an enriching and unforgettable trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Over the course of four days, they learnt more about Vietnam’s war history as they trudged through the Cu Chi Tunnels, explored the War Remnants Museum, and the Independence Palace. They also engaged in hands-on activities and shared meaningful exchanges with local students. Students also explored the Mekong Delta and learnt about Saigon’s culture and innovations when they visited the Saigon Hi-Tech Park and a local barista school. Through it all, students gained cross-cultural skills and a deeper understanding of the place of Singapore in ASEAN and the world.
Brunei Trip 2025
From 13 to 16 October 2025, 12 Secondary 3 students embarked on a school and cultural immersion trip to Brunei, where they gained deep insights into the nation’s culture, traditions, and development. At landmarks such as the Jame' Asr Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Istana Nurul Iman, and the Royal Regalia Museum, they learnt about Brunei’s faith, leadership, and sense of community. Visits to the ASEAN Sculpture Park, Kampong Ayer, and the Malay Technology Museum helped them appreciate unity among ASEAN nations, the balance between tradition and modernity, and the ingenuity of Bruneians in the past. Through these experiences, the students reflected on values of responsibility, gratitude, and cultural respect, drawing parallels between Brunei’s progress and Singapore’s own development.
The students also enjoyed exploring Brunei’s natural beauty and modern attractions. They were amazed by the grandeur of The Empire Brunei Hotel, the breathtaking sunset views, and the majestic Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Bridge. Educational visits to the Energy Hub and Brunei Maritime Museum deepened their understanding of sustainability and Brunei’s historical role in regional trade. Interacting with students at Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri fostered cultural appreciation and friendship, while visits to Tamu Kianggeh Market and Gadong Night Market showcased Brunei’s lively local life. The trip not only enriched their knowledge of Bruneian culture but also strengthened their bonds and appreciation for diversity, heritage, and shared regional identity.
Internationalisation Programme 2024
In 2024, two groups of Sec 3 students went on trips to Bali and Penang respectively. Both groups had the opportunity to participate in an exchange programme with the local schools. Students also engaged in cultural immersion visits and experiences. Students on the Bali trip embarked on field studies on coasts, volcanoes, tourism, and sustainability. Those on the Penang trip visited UNESCO Heritage sites and studied local flora and fauna at Entopia and Penang Hill. They also engaged in experiential learning activities, such as Batik painting and glass painting.

Welcome! Hong Kong's Tang Shiu Kin Victoria Government Secondary School
From 23 to 27 July, SGS hosted six students and a teacher from Hong Kong's Tang Shiu Kin Victoria Government Secondary School SGS for the milestone 20th Singapore-Hong Kong Exchange Programme. The exciting week kicked off with a lively Kompang performance and a warm welcome reception. The visiting guests fully immersed themselves in school life alongside their SGS buddies and friends, by attending classroom lessons, joining Racial Harmony Day celebrations, and going on a learning journey to the Singapore Discovery Centre.
SGS Welcomes Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri (STPRI), Brunei
It was a week filled with excitement as SGS hosted students and teachers from Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri (STPRI), Brunei, for the Inaugural School Twinning Programme in May. Over five enriching days, our Brunei friends journeyed with SGS buddies to experience school life in Singapore, including hands-on Applied Learning Modules in Interior Design, Forensic Science, Early Childhood Education, and Business & Entrepreneurship. The week was filled with wonderful cultural exchanges, from a traditional kompang welcome and a gulingtangan performance by STPRI students, to a communal Nasi Ambeng meal and Teh Tarik-making session at Kampong Glam, whilst exploring iconic Singapore landmarks. We are grateful for the friendships forged and memories made and we look forward to many more years of meaningful ties between SGS and STPRI!
SGS celebrated International Friendship Day 2026 with International French School, Singapore
SGS celebrated International Friendship Day with a vibrant celebration of global connections! Students explored ASEAN cultures through interactive booths and CCE ambassadors brought global flavours to life sharing diverse perspectives through international cuisines. We were delighted that our friends from the International French School joined in the festivities, enriching our day with cultural games and food, and impromptu busking performances of French pop songs.
SGS Welcomes His Excellency Peter Storer, Ambassador of Austria
SGS had the pleasure of hosting His Excellency Peter Storer, Ambassador of Austria to Singapore, for an engaging and insightful talk on international diplomacy.
The session brought Social Studies concepts to life, as students deepened their understanding of diplomacy and international relations. Through the talk, interactive quiz, and Q&A session, they explored how nations built bridges, and how countries work together - in wide-ranging areas including trade, culture, and global initiatives - to bring about better lives for their people. Students were better able to appreciate the importance of respect, cooperation, and communication in shaping a more connected and harmonious world.

SGS Welcomes Choi Hung Estate Catholic Secondary School
SGS had the pleasure of hosting students and teachers from Choi Hung Estate Catholic Secondary School (Hong Kong SAR, China) as part of International Friendship Day (IFD) celebrations on 11 April 2025.
Our visitors participated in a special IFD concert and presented on their school, Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), and academic experiences. Together with their buddies, they attended lessons and enjoyed a hands-on experience when they proudly prepared and savoured Pad Thai during a Food and Consumer Education (FCE) lesson.
This meaningful exchange provided an excellent platform for our students to develop communication skills and global literacy, as they interacted with peers from Hong Kong, fostering cross-cultural friendships and understanding.
